योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-5, chapter-7, verse-3

एकस्तावद्गुरुप्रोक्तादनुष्ठानाच्छनैः शनैः ।
जन्मना जन्मभिर्वापि सिद्धिदः समुदाहृतः ॥ ३ ॥
ekastāvadguruproktādanuṣṭhānācchanaiḥ śanaiḥ ,
janmanā janmabhirvāpi siddhidaḥ samudāhṛtaḥ 3
3. ekaḥ tāvat guru-proktāt anuṣṭhānāt śanaiḥ śanaiḥ
| janmanā janmabhiḥ vā api siddhidaḥ sam-udāhṛtaḥ
3. tāvat ekaḥ guru-proktāt anuṣṭhānāt śanaiḥ śanaiḥ

3. Indeed, one path [to spiritual attainment] is declared to bestow success gradually, through the practice (anuṣṭhāna) instructed by a spiritual teacher (guru), either in a single life or over many lives.
