ye satatotthitāḥ mūṣakāḥ tu vṛkṣam nikṛntanti,

Those mice, constantly active, which gnaw at the tree, are indeed called nights and days by those who ponder the nature of beings. And those honey-gatherers (madhukara) there are declared to be desires (kāma).
