श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
सर्वत्र सर्वदा सर्वमस्तीति प्रतिपादने ।
पाषाणाख्यानदृष्टान्तो मयायं तव कथ्यते ॥ ४ ॥

sarvatra sarvadā sarvamastīti pratipādane ,
pāṣāṇākhyānadṛṣṭānto mayāyaṃ tava kathyate 4

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: This illustration (dṛṣṭānta) of the 'Story of the Stone' (pāṣāṇākhyāna) is being recounted by me to you in order to demonstrate that everything exists everywhere and always.
