महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-33, verse-1

ब्राह्मण उवाच ।
नाहं तथा भीरु चरामि लोके तथा त्वं मां तर्कयसे स्वबुद्ध्या ।
विप्रोऽस्मि मुक्तोऽस्मि वनेचरोऽस्मि गृहस्थधर्मा ब्रह्मचारी तथास्मि ॥१॥
1. brāhmaṇa uvāca ,
nāhaṁ tathā bhīru carāmi loke; tathā tvaṁ māṁ tarkayase svabuddhyā ,
vipro'smi mukto'smi vanecaro'smi; gṛhasthadharmā brahmacārī tathāsmi.
1. brāhmaṇaḥ uvāca na aham tathā bhīru carāmi
loke tathā tvam mām tarkayase svabuddhyā
vipraḥ asmi muktaḥ asmi vanecaraḥ
asmi gṛhasthadharmā brahmacārī tathā asmi
1. brāhmaṇaḥ uvāca he bhīru,
aham loke tathā na carāmi,
tvam svabuddhyā mām tathā tarkayase.

1. The brahmin said: "I do not move about the world in such a fearful manner as you surmise me to be, based on your own understanding. I am a brahmin (vipra), I am liberated (mukta), I am a forest-dweller, and I also follow the natural law (dharma) of a householder, and I am a celibate student (brahmacārī)."
