महानिर्वाण-तन्त्रम्       mahānirvāṇa-tantram - chapter-6, verse-7

बलिदानविधौ देवि विहितः पुरुषः पशुः ।
स्त्रीपशुर्न च हन्तव्यस्तत्र शाम्भवशासनात् ॥७॥
7. balidānavidhau devi vihitaḥ puruṣaḥ paśuḥ ,
strīpaśurna ca hantavyastatra śāmbhavaśāsanāt.

strī-paśuḥ na ca hantavyaḥ tatra śāmbhava-śāsanāt

7. O Goddess, in the ritual of offering sacrifice, a male is ordained as the sacrificial victim. A female animal must not be slain there, in accordance with the ruling of Śambhu.
