शासनादनिशं देवि वर्णाश्रमनिवासिनाम् ।
तारणात् सर्वपापेभ्यः शास्त्रमित्यभिधीयते ॥४०॥

40. śāsanādaniśaṁ devi varṇāśramanivāsinām ,
tāraṇāt sarvapāpebhyaḥ śāstramityabhidhīyate.

40. O goddess, because of continually governing those who dwell in the stages of life and social classes (varṇa and āśrama), and because of delivering them from all sins, it is called śāstra (scripture).
