तस्मात् सिद्धान्तं सम्प्राप्य सम्प्रदायादिहेतुभिः ।
अन्तरेणोपदेष्टारं मन्त्राः स्युनीष्फला यतः ॥४॥

4. Therefore, one should first obtain the established doctrine through the means of tradition and so on. Because without an instructor, mantras would be fruitless.
