श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
तमथासौ तथा बुद्धिफलपल्लवशालिनम् ।
आनन्दमन्थरमनाः षुष्परूपाचलोपमम् ॥ १ ॥

1. Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: Then, with his mind (manas) rendered gentle by bliss (ānanda), he (the observer) thus perceived that [tree], which was rich in the fruits and tender leaves of wisdom (buddhi), and resembled a mountain of flowers.
