महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-41, verse-3

देवानां प्रभवो देवो मनसश्च त्रिलोककृत् ।

3. The ego (ahaṅkāra) is the source of the gods, the divine (principle), and of the mind; it is the creator of the three worlds. All of that, expressing itself merely as 'I,' is called the conceiver (abhimantā).
