क्षीरोद्धृतं घृतं यद्वत्तत्र क्षिप्तं न पूर्ववत् ।
पृथक्कृतो गुणेभ्यः स्यादात्मा तद्वदिहोच्यते ॥१७॥

17. kṣīroddhṛtaṁ ghṛtaṁ yadvattatra kṣiptaṁ na pūrvavat ,

yadvat kṣīra-uddhṛtam ghṛtam tatra kṣiptam na pūrva-vat
(syāt) tathā guṇebhyaḥ pṛthak-kṛtaḥ ātmā iha ucyate

17. Just as clarified butter extracted from milk and poured back into it does not become as it was before, so too the self, when separated from the guṇas, is here declared to be.
