कुलार्णव-तन्त्रम्       kulārṇava-tantram - chapter-5, verse-69

कुलद्रव्यैवीना कुर्याज्जपयज्ञ तपोव्रतम् ।
निष्फलं तद्भवेद्देवि भस्मनीव यथा हुतम् ॥६९॥
69. kuladravyaivīnā kuryājjapayajña tapovratam ,
niṣphalaṁ tadbhaveddevi bhasmanīva yathā hutam.
69. kuladravyaiḥ vinā kuryāt japa-yajñaṃ tapaḥ vratam
niṣphalaṃ tat bhavet devi bhasmani iva yathā hutam
69. devi,
kuladravyair vinā japa-yajñaṃ tapaḥ vratam ca kuryāt cet,
tat bhasmanīva hutam yathā niṣphalaṃ bhavet
69. O goddess, if one performs japa, yagya, tapas, or a vrata without the substances of the lineage (kuladravya), it becomes completely fruitless, just like an offering poured into ashes.
