वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-4, chapter-64, verse-25

मूलमर्थस्य संरक्ष्यमेष कार्यविदां नयः ।
मूले हि सति सिध्यन्ति गुणाः पुष्पफलादयः ॥२५॥
25. mūlamarthasya saṃrakṣyameṣa kāryavidāṃ nayaḥ ,
mūle hi sati sidhyanti guṇāḥ puṣpaphalādayaḥ.

25. The foundation of any undertaking must be protected; this is the principle of those who understand affairs. For indeed, when the root is present, secondary outcomes like flowers and fruits thrive.
