O dear father (tāta), [I speak of Ayodhya] which was formerly inhabited by our heroic ancestors (pūrvakaiḥ), whose name is truly fitting (satyanāmām), with strong gates (dṛḍhadvārām), and teeming with elephants, horses, and chariots (hastyaśvarathasaṅkulām).
