वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-9, verse-41

गतोदके सेतुबन्धो न कल्याणि विधीयते ।
उत्तिष्ठ कुरु कल्याणं राजानमनुदर्शय ॥४१॥
41. gatodake setubandho na kalyāṇi vidhīyate ,
uttiṣṭha kuru kalyāṇaṃ rājānamanudarśaya.
41. gata-udake setu-bandhaḥ na kalyāṇi vidhīyate
uttiṣṭha kuru kalyāṇam rājānam anudarśaya
41. kalyāṇi gata-udake setu-bandhaḥ na vidhīyate
uttiṣṭha kalyāṇam kuru rājānam anudarśaya
41. O beautiful one, building a dam when the water has already gone is of no use. Arise, do what is auspicious, and present yourself before the king!
