एकस्याः खलु कैकेय्याः कृते ऽयं क्लिश्यते जनः ।
स्वार्थे प्रयतमानायाः संश्रित्य निकृतिं त्विमाम् ॥७॥

7. ekasyāḥ khalu kaikeyyāḥ kṛte'yaṃ kliśyate janaḥ ,
svārthe prayatamānāyāḥ saṃśritya nikṛtiṃ tvimām.

7. Indeed, for the sake of one Kaikeyī, this populace (jana) is tormented, for she, striving for her own self-interest (svārtha), has resorted to this very deceit (nikṛti).
