महानिर्वाण-तन्त्रम्       mahānirvāṇa-tantram - chapter-8, verse-126

शौर्यं वृत्तञ्च योद्ध्éणां ज्ञेयं राज्ञा पृथक् पृथक् ।
बहुसैन्याधिपं नैकं कुर्यादात्महिते रतः ॥१२६॥
126. śauryaṁ vṛttañca yoddhéṇāṁ jñeyaṁ rājñā pṛthak pṛthak ,
bahusainyādhipaṁ naikaṁ kuryādātmahite rataḥ.
126. śauryaṃ vṛttaṃ ca youddhṝṇāṃ jñeyaṃ rājñā pṛthak
pṛthak bahusainyādhipam na ekam kuryāt ātmahite rataḥ
126. ātmahite rataḥ rājñā youddhṝṇāṃ śauryaṃ vṛttaṃ ca
pṛthak pṛthak jñeyam bahusainyādhipam na ekam kuryāt
126. A king intent upon his own welfare should separately assess the individual prowess and conduct of his warriors. He should not place all power in the hands of a single commander of a large army.
