महानिर्वाण-तन्त्रम्       mahānirvāṇa-tantram - chapter-12, verse-69

कालातीते तु विज्ञाते खण्डेऽशौचं न विद्यते ।
पूर्णे त्रिरात्रं विहितं न चेत् संवत्सरात् परम् ॥६९॥
69. kālātīte tu vijñāte khaṇḍe'śaucaṁ na vidyate ,
pūrṇe trirātraṁ vihitaṁ na cet saṁvatsarāt param.

pūrṇe trirātram vihitam na cet saṃvatsarāt param
69. tu kālātīte vijñāte khaṇḍe aśaucam na vidyate,
pūrṇe trirātram vihitam,

69. However, when the time has passed and the news is known fragmentarily, there is no impurity. When completed, a three-night period is prescribed, provided it is not beyond a year.
