वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-8, verse-15

तथैव रणरक्तस्तु मुष्टिना वासवानुजम् ।
ताडयित्वा धनुर्मात्रमपक्रान्तो निशाचरः ॥१५॥
15. tathaiva raṇaraktastu muṣṭinā vāsavānujam ,
tāḍayitvā dhanurmātramapakrānto niśācaraḥ.
15. tathā eva raṇaraktaḥ tu muṣṭinā vāsavānujam
tāḍayitvā dhanurmātram apakrāntaḥ niśācaraḥ
15. And similarly, the demon (niśācara), enraged by battle, struck Viṣṇu (vāsavānuja) with his fist and then retreated just a bow's length away.
