न भार्यां ताडयेत् क्वापि मातृवत् पालयेत् सदा ।
न त्यजेत् घोरकष्टेऽपि यदि साध्वी पतिव्रता ॥३९॥

39. He should never strike his wife anywhere, and should always protect her like a mother. Even in the midst of terrible hardships, he should not abandon her if she is virtuous and devoted to her husband.
