महानिर्वाण-तन्त्रम्       mahānirvāṇa-tantram - chapter-12, verse-125

नैकपुत्रः सुतं दद्यान्नैकस्त्रीकस्तथा स्त्रियम् ।
नैककन्यः सुतां शैवोद्वाहे पितृहितः पुमान् ॥१२५॥
125. naikaputraḥ sutaṁ dadyānnaikastrīkastathā striyam ,
naikakanyaḥ sutāṁ śaivodvāhe pitṛhitaḥ pumān.
125. na eka-putraḥ sutam dadyāt na eka-strīkaḥ tathā striyam
na eka-kanyaḥ sutām śiva-udvāhe pitṛ-hitaḥ pumān
125. na eka-putraḥ sutam dadyāt tathā na eka-strīkaḥ striyam dadyāt
pitṛ-hitaḥ pumān śiva-udvāhe na eka-kanyaḥ sutām dadyāt
125. O Pārvati, a man who has only one son should not give him away in adoption, nor should a man who has only one wife give her away, nor should a man who has only one daughter give her away in a marriage dedicated to Shiva, when it is for the welfare of the ancestors.
