devi priye yaḥ jāgrat svapnaḥ suṣuptiḥ ca turīyam tat-atītakam pañcakam vetti,

75. O beloved goddess, he who knows the fivefold states consisting of waking, dreaming, deep sleep, the fourth state, and that which transcends it, is declared to be a guru.
