अनाद्यविद्योपहिता यथाग्नौ विस्फुलिङ्गकाः ।
गर्भाद्युपाधिसंभिन्नाः कर्मभिः करणादिभिः ॥९॥

9. Veiled by beginningless ignorance (avidyā), like sparks in a fire, they (the individual souls) become differentiated by various limitations such as womb-birth, through their past actions (karma) and instruments of action.
