महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-65, verse-33

तस्मात्क्रीत्वा महीं दद्यात्स्वल्पामपि विचक्षणः ।
पिण्डः पितृभ्यो दत्तो वै तस्यां भवति शाश्वतः ॥३३॥
33. tasmātkrītvā mahīṁ dadyātsvalpāmapi vicakṣaṇaḥ ,
piṇḍaḥ pitṛbhyo datto vai tasyāṁ bhavati śāśvataḥ.
33. tasmāt krītvā mahīm dadyāt svalpām api vicakṣaṇaḥ
piṇḍaḥ pitṛbhyaḥ dattaḥ vai tasyām bhavati śāśvataḥ
33. tasmāt vicakṣaṇaḥ krītvā svalpām api mahīm dadyāt.
tasyām pitṛbhyaḥ dattaḥ piṇḍaḥ vai śāśvataḥ bhavati
33. Therefore, a wise person should give land, even if it is a small amount, after having bought it. An offering (piṇḍa) given to the ancestors (pitṛs) on such land indeed becomes eternal.
