वृतोऽस्मीति वरो ब्रूयात् ततो दाता वदेद्वरम् ।
यथाविहितमित्युक्त्वा विवाहकर्म कुर्विति ।
वरो ब्रूयात् यथाज्ञानं करवाणि तदुत्तरम् ॥२४५॥

245. vṛto'smīti varo brūyāt tato dātā vadedvaram ,
yathāvihitamityuktvā vivāhakarma kurviti ,
varo brūyāt yathājñānaṁ karavāṇi taduttaram.

245. The bridegroom should say, 'I am chosen.' Then the father of the bride should say to the bridegroom, 'Perform the marriage rite as prescribed.' The bridegroom should say in response, 'I shall perform it according to my knowledge.'
