कुलार्णव-तन्त्रम्       kulārṇava-tantram - chapter-1, verse-96

तत्त्वमात्मस्थमज्ञात्त्वा मूढः शास्त्रेषु मुह्यति ।
गोपः कक्षगतं चागं कूपे पश्यति दुर्मतिः ॥९६॥
96. tattvamātmasthamajñāttvā mūḍhaḥ śāstreṣu muhyati ,
gopaḥ kakṣagataṁ cāgaṁ kūpe paśyati durmatiḥ.

gopaḥ kakṣagatam chāgam kūpe paśyati durmatiḥ
96. ātmastham tattvam ajñātvā mūḍhaḥ śāstreṣu muhyati,
durmatiḥ gopaḥ kakṣagatam chāgam kūpe paśyati
96. Not knowing the reality seated within oneself, a foolish person gets lost in the scriptures, just as a foolish shepherd looks down a well for the goat tucked under his arm.
