कुलार्णव-तन्त्रम्       kulārṇava-tantram - chapter-1, verse-31

शतं जीवितमत्यल्पं निद्रा स्यादर्द्धहारिणी ।
बाल्यरोगजरादुःखैरर्द्धं तदपि निष्फलम् ॥३१॥
31. śataṁ jīvitamatyalpaṁ nidrā syādarddhahāriṇī ,
bālyarogajarāduḥkhairarddhaṁ tadapi niṣphalam.

bālyarogajarāduḥkhaiḥ ardham tat api niṣphalam
31. śatam jīvitam atyalpam,

31. A lifespan of a hundred years is extremely short. Sleep takes away half of it, and even the remaining half becomes fruitless through the miseries of childhood, illness, and old age.
